Keep Calm and Carry On: The Playlist

I made a "Keep Calm and Carry On" iTunes playlist this week since my Art Director (ak.a. the only other person in the Bally "Art Department") was out of town, leaving me slammed with work. I don't drink, but I consider this playlist to be the equivalent of a tall cold glass of beer (served in a frosted glass).

From the Morning - Nick Drake
Bruises - Chairlift
Where does the good go - Tegan and Sara
True Affection - The Blow
All to All (Skeet Skeet remix) - Broken Social Scene
Hang me up to dry - Coldwar Kids
Lasso - Phoenix
Back in your head - Tegan and Sara
Daylight - Matt & Kim
Crystalised - The XX
1,2,3,4 - Feist
Sleep Tonight (Junior Boys Remix) - Stars
He's Gone - Leona Naess
Soft Shock - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Reason to Love You - Meiko
Sorry About Your Irony - El Ten Eleven

The Plaid Lab

The Plaid Lab a.k.a. the "creative enterprise" of Mark Saunders is over-flowing with awesome work, from wrapping paper to websites, but the business cards were what caught my eye today. They were featured on Beast Pieces, the sweet letterpress studio that made them. They're so awesome I just had to put them up! P.S. I love letterpress.

Logomania

After working at Bally a little over a year now, I was recently offered a project that departed from my usual page-layout work: design a "fun","energetic","modern" logo for a large variety of health/fitness products. I've always wanted to do more illustrations/logo work, so this was a great little break (and by little break I mean three day/millions of revisions project). Although they didn't pick my favorite one, it was nice giving InDesign a rest and opening up Illustrator.

This is the very first one I did, I always have a special place
in my heart for the first idea
This is the one they picked, coming to a store near you!
I don't know if I was looking at Gatorade when
I made these or what but I still like 'em
My ex co-worker had one look at these and said they reminded him of
Nike stuff, I guess my creative mind is inundated with other brands

Art for a Cause

I've loved the work of The Heads of State guys for years, and they continuously earn my respect by creating great work. The newest posters they designed are not only amazing but the proceeds go to clean up efforts in the gulf!

Grip Limited

I have a massive crush on this Toronto based creative agency right now. The site/work/blog/twitterfeed are all equally amazing! Fall in love here and here.
